Today was…. a day….
Not going to lie, it was really tough. These types of days can feel close to impossible to manage… and yet, I still pushed through, and am continuing to do so. Something that helps me more than anything is connecting to what is beyond me. The “Great Beyond” if you will (fitting, I know).
My main way of doing this is through divination. Divination is a practice used to connect to the “Divine” and to receive insight into questions we have. My main source is through Tarot cards, though it differs for everyone. So with this being said, I wanted to share the messages that I got today because of their significance to me. I will be saying the name of the card, it’s written message, and its impact on me.
The deck I used for this reading was the Angels and Ancestors deck by Kyle Gray. This is a new one and, can I just say, the illustrations are absolutely gorgeous.
So to start off, the first card (out of 6) was Medicine Mother and the message was “Honour Your Inner Knowledge. Take action. Do what you need to do.” Now for this first card I had a specific question in mind dealing with a decision I am considering for my future. The main part of this card that really stuck out for me was: “This Medicine Mother has gone through many ups and downs. She has lived and she has lost. She knows what it’s like to suffer and to want to give up. So the meaning of this card is that it’s okay for things to come to an end. It’s not the end of the world, it’s just the end of one chapter and the beginning of something new. The Medicine Mother reminds you that even though you will have low lows, you aren’t here to suffer.” That last part hit different. Today was one of those “low lows” and I spent those moments thinking truly that the suffering would never cease. Also, this decision has held a lot of internal conflict in my mind and I have in the past surrounded it with a negative association. In reality, either way, It’s a new chapter. I will not go further down no matter which path I choose to take…and at the same time, the decision part is what I’ve been having trouble with. Which brings me exactly to my next card.
Card 2/6 Direction Guardian (choose your path)
Title is fitting right? Right. I laughed when i got this right after having those questions/ thoughts. Main message: Connect with your deepest desires, then choose the path that will make your heart and soul sing.” My internal laughter continued as I read “The direction Guardian card represents the angels of direction. These amazing angels are the ones who come to us when we are at crossroads and don’t know which way to go– when we are unsure of what is right for us or of the bigger picture.” ha. ha. ha. I don’t even need to say why this connected with me. So after telling me this, they gave clarity on what to think about for the time being: “Your path isn’t set and stone, and your angels and guides have no expectations for you. Nor should you have any for yourself. There are many directions you can take. None of them are wrong, as they all hold perfect opportunities to grow and to learn. But life is to be enjoyed and savoured, so, if you know that there’s a decision to be made, and particularly if you are feeling indecisive, choose the path you know is going to make you light up. And choose with your heart.” This will take a little big of self reflection because for awhile, my head and heart have been in utter tangles. The human mind can be manipulative and deceiving and sometimes we just need to tell it to hush for a moment 🙂 What you “want” may sometimes just be a thought based on those pesky feelings of familiarity I talked on in the previous post.
Card 3/6 Wise One (Grow Within Your Current Situation)
“Knuckle down. Be reliable and committed. Be open to wisdom and insights from your elders.” “The Wise One represents the wisest aspects of the Goddess– the Crone. In paganism and modern Wicca, the Crone is the fiercest, most psychic and most aware aspect of the Goddess, because she has been through so many of life’s challenges and overcome many setbacks.” She is said to assist in tapping you back into the wisdom to overcome what life throws at you (“wisdom being the information stored in your soul, rather than the knowledge acquired in this lifetime”/ what I was saying about the human mind being deceiving.) “When this card appears, you are being guided to continue working on your growth and expansion within your current situation. Be committed to your tasks and projects. It can be very easy to get bored or overwhelmed, but persevere.” This is big for me because of a few reasons. A)… I get bored easily… simple as that. B) This is something i’ve been trying to do for awhile to try and put my focus on my passions and hobbies so I can live and feel how I want to, rather than past unhealthy coping mechanisms/ no-longer-useful tools. Today made it seem like none of it helped me in the long run, and that I haven’t grown. I am aware this is so far from the truth, and yet my mind still thought it. (p.s- that’s the power of writing out your thoughts to fact check them and see if they line up with your emotions and reactions… a lot of times, those thoughts are irrational and writing helps immensely to opening your eyes to that) “You are being reminded of how it feels to be let down and experience unreliability– and that is not who you were born to be” Like said, ^ It reminded me exactly of those feelings. So, I’m going to keep working. It will pay off in the long run.
Card 4/6 Air Guardian (Shift Your Perception)
“Change the way you think and you will change your whole reality.” Very true, very true. Life is all about perspective… literally. everything. “When this card arises, It’s an opportunity to learn about your way of thinking. You are being guided to recognize that not all you see is exactly the way you see it. Sometimes our mind can play games and sometimes our perceptions can be wrong.” WHAT DID I JUST SAY! anyway, “If you are being challenged or feel that there’s a lack of direction in your life at the moment, there’s a good chance the way you’re thinking or what you’re focusing on has a lot to do with that reality. You are being guided to open your eyes and your mind, go beyond any limits you have set for yourself and recognize that the way you see the world is how you will experience the world.” Nothing more to be said.
Card 5/6 Stag (Trust and Thrive)
“Come alive and thrive. Stand in your light and glory with grace and majesty.” “The Stag brings graceful and powerful medicine into your life. In the Celtic traditions, the stag, with his crown of antlers, is known as the king of the forest and his totem that brings protection in challenging times.” “Trust in all that you have to offer- all your gifts, strength and power- and make the most of it. You were born to lead and this can only become a reality when you are willing to put yourself in that position.” This is a reason I am writing this post today. Because although this journey has been difficult, I am persevering and I am here to lead and guide others. Life is beautiful and I promise to myself and to this Earth that I will try my very best to support others in finding that light too. Onward!
6/6 Shaman (Trust in Higher Forces)
“Trust in your angels, guides and ancestors. If you have given your power away, claim it back.” “If this card comes to you, it’s because you need to do some release work with lower energies or with your lack of trust in the spiritual energies that are guiding you.” I mean, yeah. I will admit, Lower vibrational energies trick us into thinking things that just.. aren’t true and i’ve felt alone, despite knowing I am not. None of us ever really are. “The shaman card also shows that you have shamanic potential to move between realms and connect with your guides in an extremely personal way.” This is something I am very grateful for and the only thing blocking me are my own thoughts held down by my focus on those lower energies.
So… thats that! This was a very meaningful and important post that I wanted to share with you all in hopes of showing you all that… There’s always more to life than meets the eye. You are being guided. You are where you are meant to be in this moment.
